The DOH cannot use the data for any public reporting of facility-specific data or any regulatory or punitive actions against healthcare institutions. The full text of the DUA and a list of the facility-specific data that the health department can access as part of the DUA can be found on CDC's State-Based Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Prevention website at http://www.cdc.gov/HAI/state-based/index.html.

NYSDOH Clarification on Negative Test Requirement for Furloughed Staff

Author: Jackie Pappalardi and Lisa Volk* Published in Clinical & Quality

New York State Department of Health’s Nursing Home Testing Program provided guidance on the staff testing negative requirement prior to returning to work: nursing home employees who test positive for COVID-19 but remained asymptomatic are not eligible to return to work for 14 days from first positive test date until receiving a negative test. However, this policy may be reconsidered for previously COVID-19 positive individuals as more is learned about immunity following COVID-19.

NYSDOH provided clarification that the negative test requirement may be fulfilled during the 14-day period.

The Guidance standardizes reporting to ensure that public health officials have access to comprehensive and nearly real-time data to inform decision making in their response to COVID-19.
